During the course of
the past 10 days a group of perhaps eight females (ages 20 to 40,) four men, and
one child appear to have hit at least four jewelry retailers in the New York
metro area.
Suspects in Jersey City, New Jersey, included eight females and three men,
speaking in a language sales staff did not recognize. The group distracted sales
staff on July 13 and purchased merchandise, but one female is suspected of
crawling into the back of the store where she concealed cash and jewelry from
the safe in her clothing before the group left the store.

In Brooklyn, New York, on July 12 it is believed that the same group hit a
jewelry store while sales staff was showing merchandise to some of the female
suspects. One suspect made her way into the back of the store and stole cash and
jewelry from the safe.
One day earlier, on July 11, in Iselin, New Jersey, two jewelry store heists
occurred 15 minutes apart. In both cases up to 12 people described as men,
women, and one boy, arrived in a van as a group, entered the stores and
distracted sales staff while one suspect would enter the rear of the store to
access the safe.
Female suspects are described as wearing skirts and scarves, and the male
suspects are described as wearing khaki pants and white shirts.
Jewelers in Queens, New York, were hit on July 12, and it is suspected that the
same group may have been responsible, according to the Jewelers Security
Alliance.
