News, Friday, December 14, 2007 (with Rapaport TradeWire and online Rapaport diamond price calculator ) :  

U.S.  retail  jewelry  demand  disappointing.  Low-end  diamond jewelry weak.  $500 and higher price points holding up.  4/4-6/4 certs OK. Two carats slow.  Big  expensive 3ct+ remain strong, but scarce and speculative.  

Harry Winston posts  3Q $7.4M loss as weak  U.S.  dollar hikes  mining costs, U.S.  3Q retail  sales -22%  to  $19.4M and int'l sales +16% to $34.4M. 

Indian goods stable. India Nov. polished exports +21% to $996M, rough  imports  -41%  to $533M.  

Belgium Nov.  polished exports +26% to $1B, rough imports -14% to $782M.  

U.S.  Oct. polished imports +21%  to $1.9B,  polished exports +34%  to $1B.  

De Beers says sales of Journey Diamond Jewelry designs grew to $1.5B since Aug. '06.

French auctioneer Guizzetti-Collet sells 6.5ct blue diamond for $3.56M or $547,692/ct.
