Christie’s published the results of its New York Jewelry Sale, and accordingly it sold 293 lots or 88% of the 332 lots put on offer. In value terms the lots sold a mounted to €31,572,705. Rahul Kadakia, Head of Jewelry, Christie’s Americas commented, “While the Rare Jewels and Gemstones auction could not take place, the New York Jewelry Sale realised an outstanding $50m, making it the most valuable jewellery auction ever held in the U.S. Ten jewels sold over $1m and diamonds stole the show all across the board, with a sensational $175,000 per carat paid for a 39ct perfect gem. Bidding was robust throughout the day, underscoring the continued strength of the jewelry market and the global appetite for important stones.”
